Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid - non-psychoactive precursor that decarboxylates to delta-9 THC when heated. The operative question per state is the total-THC basis: delta-9-only definitions leave THCa flower shippable; total-THC (post-decarb) definitions capture it.
Federal gray area. THCa - federally contested: hemp on the statute's delta-9-only text, marijuana on DEA's post-decarboxylation reading; resolved against THCa Federal detail and instruments
