How this data is built

What a status means

Legal: the product can be sold at retail under the jurisdiction's current law as written. Restricted: legal with limits (potency caps, licensing, age, form or labeling rules). Gray area: sold in practice but exposed to an interpretive ban theory; the reason is written on the page. Illegal: sale is prohibited by statute, rule or scheduling. Not yet verified: no determination on file. Unknown is never displayed as legal.

Sources

Official sources first: statutes, administrative codes, regulations, attorney general opinions, Federal Register notices. Mirrors are labeled as mirrors (OFFICIAL vs MIRROR). Every determination carries at least one citation with a URL, and the page marks which are official.

Verbatim text and fingerprints

The controlling text is stored as retrieved, with the official URL, the retrieval date and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the normalized text. Automated checks re-read the live source; when the fingerprint changes, the row is flagged for review, and the verified date shown on each page is the later of the human verification and the last automated check that found the text unchanged.

Federal precedence

When a compound is federally scheduled, every state page reports illegal and keeps the state-law reading underneath, labeled (details).

Changes

Every change to a determination is logged before and after. Changes to the public fields (status, tier, headline, effective date, limits) appear on the row's page as change history and on the changes feed.

Index policy

Pages with no verified determination, no citation and no law text on file are published but marked noindex until the record exists, so search engines and models only see pages with evidence.

Voice

Compound Laws reports the record. It grades exposure; it never coaches evasion and it is not legal advice.

Compound Laws, published by Compound Analytics, reports the record: statutes verbatim, official citations, enforcement facts and verification dates. Nothing here is legal advice and nothing here describes how to get around a law. A jurisdiction with no verified row is reported as not yet verified, never as legal. Found an error?
